In this day and age, getting your music online is imperative to your success as a musician. Sure, you can use Bandcamp or Facebook, but you can’t use those sites to sell merchandise or layout a full concert schedule. If you’re serious about making a name for yourself, you’re going to need a website and WordPress is your best bet.
There’s a countless number of themes created specifically for musicians and artists. Instead of trying to embed a new song, these themes come with audio players, which can be easily changed and updated. Want to drop a surprise weekend album like Beyonce? Your WordPress site is the place for that. Want to sell shirts with your face on them? Create a merch tab. All of these themes will give you the power to get your name out there and start sharing your craft.
Beat Mix
Beat Mix is built for musicians, music bloggers, and even concert venues. Combine behind-the-scenes posts from the band, or simply use it to list all your concert dates. Beat Mix is a beautiful way to display all the information any fan would need. At the top, you can add scrolling news updates — whether it’s a new album release or change in venue for tonight’s show.
Beat Mix is translation ready, which means you can quickly reach out to your fans across the world.
Happenings
Happenings is the perfect place to list all your gigs. It comes with a template that perfectly sets up your events. In the recent posts column, fans can see all your upcoming events. List time, date, location, and even add a link to buy tickets.
The theme is free and you can include your social media at the bottom to interact with your audience.
FWRD
Though this option isn’t free it is incredibly full-featured. Choose from 13 widgets that make up an easy-to-use drag and drop page builder. It comes with an events and gigs manager so you can keep track of all your events. Even set up a timer that counts down until your next event.
The best feature is the built-in music player. You don’t have to embed your songs from YouTube or Spotify. FWRD will run you $59.
StereoClub
StereoClub has a distinct nightclub vibe, perfect for deejays. The theme is extremely responsive and the color scheme is easily customizable. This plugin makes it easy to delineate different sections for your CD sales, merch, gigs, and music videos.
Like FWRD, this theme isn’t free and will run you $17.
Colibri
If you already have an online presence with Instagram, Sound Cloud, and Bandsintown, then Colibri is the theme for you. You can integrate all of your social media accounts.
Use Bandsintown to set up your events and gigs, Sound Cloud to share your music, and Instagram to display your photos. Colibri makes sure you don’t have to do double work if you’re already set up online. The theme costs $49.
