Krista over at WordPress.com recently shared some neat facts and figures about the previous year and one of them includes the fact that WordPress.com released over 65 new themes in that calendar year. The napkin math here is over 5 new themes a month! Pretty impressive numbers considering how much time and energy and effort required to create new themes (and then review them and get them ready for primetime). There were some incredible improvements beyond just the theme choices as custom design was introduced as an upgrade, doubling of space provided, introduction of SASS and LESS, better WordPress stats, […]
Interested in Starting a WordCamp? Get Mentored!
Or, at least that’s the proposal. You see, the number of WordCamps are growing every single year and we’re very excited about that but the truth is that starting, launching, and executing a successful WordCamp can be a very daunting task, especially for first-time event planners. I know this for a fact since my wife has planned a number of events (that is a stressful period and time when she’s “right” in the middle of it) and I’m also helping to plan the WordCamp here in Atlanta, GA (and it’s a challenge!). But wouldn’t it be neat if there was […]
Love WordPress Newbies? Then Join Welcome Wagon Team!
One of our goals here at WP Daily is to help WordPress dominate the blogging and CMS world by promoting and sharing how effective this publishing platform really is, for not just bloggers but small businesses, enterprises, non-profits, education and government institutions, and more. To do that it is absolutely necessary that we win them early, with open arms, and with the support they need so that adoption can be even more successful. The proposed new WordPress Welcome Wagon initiative is aiming to do just that – and they need your help! As Andrea Rennick explains to those that may be unfamiliar with the […]

This curated list of plugins help some of the larger WordPress installations stay engaged with their community with neat features, functionalities, and value. That confidence alone puts these plugins on the top of the list as […]
Windows Phone 1.9 Submitted for Review!
It could be live in a week or so. Love seeing this active development! Looking forward for the announcement and stay tuned here for more info. And back to work…
So… What Ever Happened to Blo.gs?
Do you remember Blo.gs? It was acquired by Automattic back in April of 2009 and it doesn’t appear, at least on the outside, that much has happened. I mean, for starters, the incredibly outdated look of the site, the fact that the last news article is dated in April of 2009, and how the FAQ of sorts calls you out if you’re using Netscape as a browser: the site is all jumbled up! how am i supposed to use this? you must be using an obsolete web browser, like netscape 4.x. sorry, the website expects a moderately-standards-compliant browser. What I […]

2012 Theme and Support Stats for WordPress.com
After culling the stats from 2012 for WordPress.com I thought I’d do another round of stats related to those that run theme shops and are considering the behaviors of bloggers in light of their business model. I know that my team is constantly thinking about these elements so that we might not only refine our business strategy but also our product offering with our WordPress Theme, Standard, which is available on WordPress.com. The first one is a powerful signal that’s worth thinking about for your WordPress business:
The Future of Interaction Design
The next 18 minutes might prove to be incredibly useful and insightful for those that live and breathe interface, interactive, and product design and those who just love to contemplate user experience – this is a conversation of what the future might look like in our digital world. In fact, I couldn’t help but think about WordPress and the advancements in those areas over the last few years which I believe have helped contribute to the growing adoption rate. A few very notable quotes and thoughts that really hooked me from people that are really testing the boundaries of interaction […]
