One of the things that makes WordPress such a viable option when it comes to building websites is its ability to serve as a true application framework.
And those developers who are familiar with building true web applications can do amazing things when it comes to using WordPress.
Part of the goal of WP Daily is to feature editorial content not only around events, news, interviews, and the like, but applications built on the platform as well.
The Athletes Network is one such example.
The Athletes Network
The Athletes Network was brought to my attention by Curtis McHale – one of its core developers.
The concept is awesome:
The Athletes Network allows highschool athletes to register and be scouted by college coaches.
In short, the application was built using the following tools:
- Powered by Gravity Forms for post creation
- A number of custom dashboards
- Has a number of features powered by BuddyPress
For those who are significantly more interest, perhaps we can get Curtis to chime in in the comments to talk more about the technical details of the application.
