Happy Monday! I’m sure there are a number of you who have the day off in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr, I know I did. There’s also other things to celebrate today like the inaugural ceremony for the returning President of the United States, but more importantly some new themes and plugins. I know being the President is probably cool and all, but I think I’m going to stick with being a WordPress developer myself. Don’t you?
It’s a big list today folks. Way to make that long 3 day weekend count!
New Themes
Simple colourful theme inspired by Color Lovers. This theme doesn’t support headers or featured images, but it comes with a selection of color schemes which have been incorporated in the theme customizer.
The colors of almost everything can be changed from within the options page. An image can be uploaded across the top of the website. This is a multiple-layout theme – choose between one-column, two-column-content-left, two-column-content-right, three-column-content-left, three-column-content-middle and three-column-content-right. All layouts are fixed or flexible width and can be whatever width you want. Sidebar widths can be changed. The sidebars and footer contain multiple items and endless widget areas that can be turned on or off. Includes featured images, top and bottom dropdown CSS menus, post formats (e.g. asides), comment bubbles and style sheets for print and admin. The options page is one long page with idiot-proof pictures of what every option…
Whispy is a sharp, lime-ish theme resting on the solid bones of Twenty Ten. Tweaked for improved SEO performance, it features an optional three-column template, optional no-header formatting and the ability to specify title and description text colour.
Updated Themes
Newschannel is a pretty versatile theme, that places the emphasis of the home page and archive pages on featured images. It would be great for a personal blog, but would also be good for a local news site or even a photography blog.
A whimsical theme emulating a classic school chalkboard, complete with a bottom-resting eraser and chalk.
