Want to hear some of the perspective of Jake Caputo who has had an incredibly-busy week this week around Envato, WPF, GPL, and WordCamps?
Ryan Imel over at WP Candy in their 35th episode has it with his guest, talking over the experience and touching upon more than a few things.
One point that Jake reminds the audience is that ThemeForest is his biggest source of income and it’s just not a possibility at this point for his lifestyle and financial needs. In other words, he can’t just up and “quit” ThemeForest tomorrow and be completely ok with it! Again, it’s a touchy subject and definitely a personal one.
Give it a listen and thanks Jake for going public with your thoughts.
One thing that I’d like to add to the conversation is the idea that the marketplace is “crowded” – although it might feel like that, especially for those that are “in” this space, from the outside-looking-in the market is still very, very small.
I think there’s still an incredible amount of opportunity for newer marketplaces and theme shops to be wildly successful and one of the outcauses that I hope will occur after all the dust settles is that people will begin to innovate anew and push the bar even higher for all.
The point is that you shouldn’t feel threatened or insecure about launching your next best idea into WordPress – we support you and heck, we’ll cover it!
