I have yet to fully convert to any mobile blogging application on the market simply because the experience hasn’t been very stellar, besides the features and functions that I need to be successful.
But, I want to believe that we can move there and I want to be converted, if possible, since I don’t like to carry my MacBook Air everywhere (although I’m desperately in love with this machine).
So when the mobile team pushes out new concept work I’m very interested to see what’s cooking in the mobile kitchen, sotospeak.
This time it appears that there were some neat concepts being created for the start screen and/or login screen. Take a look at these concepts created recently by @isaackeyet and karmatosed at WordCamp Norway Dev Day:
Inspired by Circle App which allows people to see friends and interests nearby, the interface would provide an more intuitive and engaging point of entry.
Some of their key notes from the dev day:
- The first 2 screens are just showing suggestions for the initial screen which will be a step by step guide through (walkthrough) the features. The plan is our own take either with custom backgrounds/photos or icons (such as the WordPress icon set perhaps).
- The 3rd option shows the ‘slide in’ log in screen. This would slide up to show the form – showing the under page so you can easily get back again.
- The last option shows the keyboard in size comparison. This will probably have the return button changing depending on context.
I’m all for a better and better user interface and experience – although I’m not a super-fan of doing any blogging on any mobile devices it’ll really be the day when I make that switch meaning that the experience is so good that I can’t help but change my own publishing behavior.
It seems that we’re getting closer and closer every single day – I can’t wait to be converted!
