One of our goals here at WP Daily is to help WordPress dominate the blogging and CMS world by promoting and sharing how effective this publishing platform really is, for not just bloggers but small businesses, enterprises, non-profits, education and government institutions, and more.
To do that it is absolutely necessary that we win them early, with open arms, and with the support they need so that adoption can be even more successful. The proposed new WordPress Welcome Wagon initiative is aiming to do just that – and they need your help!
As Andrea Rennick explains to those that may be unfamiliar with the term:
For those unfamiliar with the term, a welcome wagon is a small organization that traditionally welcomes new people who move in to a neighbourhood. Often a basket is dropped off with some food, maps of the area and coupons for local businesses.
Since we are a virtual organization spread out all over the world, that’s not really possible, but there are some things we can do to make new members feel welcome and want to contribute.
She’s proposed some starting initiatives that could really bring in these newcomers and help them adjust comfortably and quickly. If helping WordPress newbies is where your heart is then this might be a great place to giveback and offer your advice and experience to the growing WordPress community.
Head over to the community boards and feel free to jump in – there are already some great ideas floating around but Andrea and her team will need help implementing and executing it towards success.
I, for one, want to be more involved with this particular community myself because we all win when more and more people use WordPress. Let’s do it!
