Many people find themselves in an unfortunately position of being on a lesser blogging platform. I remember switching to blogger with the dreams of utilizing the free adsense spots, being able to completely customise the design and having my own domain for a mere £7 a year. What a bargain.
Then a year or so in I realised I had made a mistake. Although blogger was a great platform it was just a blog, I couldn’t do some of the amazing things I saw happening on WordPress blogs and envy grew in my heart. Eventually, I made the jump to a self-hosted WordPress site and never looked back.
Now there is a new company looking to help people do the same – Meet CMS2CMS!
How it Works
The system is very simple. All you need to do is install a new CMS system on a domain and then enter the web addresses of the two sites on the homepage and click migrate.
Currently CMS2CMS only supports WordPress, Joomla and Drupal so it won’t work for blogger or tumblr but there is the blogger and tumblr importer for that..people might also use it for evil purposes like switching from WordPress to Drupal!
Although the WordPress importer is a very easy to use service, unlike CMS2CMS it won’t transfer your pictures across or your internal links. So if you don’t want the hassel of editing every link you put in to keep your SEO or uploading hundreds of Photos again then CMS2CMS might be a great service to checkout.
These two features alone will save numerous hours of work transferring from one CMS to another.
The Prices
It currently offers 50 pages for free, then prices start at $9.99 for up to 200 pages and then rise up to $99.99 for up to 25,000 pages.
However, they currently have a 50% off Early bird discount for anyone wishing to switch to WordPress which runs out on the 20th of February.
Unfortunately there is no easy way to transfer from blogger, where many bloggers start out so this service still wouldn’t have helped me to transfer my blog and you have to have a separate domain set up so you can’t just enter your domain and then change over.
Have you moved over to WordPress from a different CMS? Did you Have any problems?
Hope that helps!
