We had a post recently that shared how web designers should learn to code but I personally believe that in our economy and time that everyone should learn to write a little more code.
Why? Just as Code.org is trying to share via Steve Jobs, it teaches you how to think.
A non-profit, Code.org is attempting to encourage more people and more institutions to help educate and provide education around technology and software like no one before.
I particularly like this because as a parent I’m interested in having my own children learn to code – not that I can force them into a career path that I would like to see them pursue but rather so that they can be software and code-literate when they enter into the workforce.
I believe it’s a valuable skill, even if you don’t explicitly use it to make an income and living.
Code.org has a neat geo-location service where you can find local programs based on age ranges as well:
I’m 100% behind this initiative and you should be too.
