I figured I would share my creative space today. It’s probably not going to be anything spectacular like the others. Mine is simple. Starbucks.
I have had a number of different styles of workspaces over the years. I have gone from a cubicle, to a table, to a more open desk, back to a cubicle. At home I have my workspace down in our basement, but it’s dark and quiet. Not really suitable for creative inspiration or anything.
I am a social person and love to be around people. Some people bird watch, I people watch. I also love being able to look outside as well. Nature is an amazing creation, so naturally it’s creative. (see what I did there?)
For some reason my most productive environment is a busy one. I love to have lots of stuff going on around me, but have my headphones on at all times. The tunes can drown out the noise, but all the movement keeps me energized. What better place to see people coming and going then at a coffee shop?
I choose Starbucks for a few reasons, and have found the perfect one to work at in my area. The staff is friendly and they have plenty of tables with window views. Using my Starbucks card on my iPhone gets me free refills, so I know I can stay caffeinated. I also run into some people I know from time to time like my buddy Michael.
I think it has something to do with the simple setup that makes the keystrokes happen so fluidly. I feel like I can write, create, code, and connect with people online with ease. I feel so focused and so productive. What a great feeling!
I have also been know to work on the bus too 🙂
Have you submitted your space yet? We’d love to see it!
