In addition to being the Community & Blog Wrangler at Photocrati, I am also a photographer. On a daily basis, I am out taking pictures with my Nikon gear and writing and engaging with Photocrati customers.
I currently have two computer setups. One is a Mac Pro and the other is a Macbook Pro, for when traveling or working in a coffee shop or something.
My Mac Pro is my workhorse machine. That’s where I spend most of my time writing articles and processing photographs. I use an Apple Cinema Display and a cheaper LG monitor, both calibrated using a ColorMunki.
On top of the Cinema Display is a Logitech webcam used for screencasting and video chats. Underneath the LG monitor is an Apple Magic Mouse and a Lexar USB 3.0 card reader. Directly to the right of the monitors is a Drobo S housing 5 drives which store my entire Lightroom library of photographs.
Under my desk is a G-Tech RAID drive which is a backup of the Drobo (via Carbon Copy Cloner).
I use the Apple Wireless Keyword for writing when on the Mac Pro. Most of the time I am not using the Magic Mouse and instead the Wacom Intuos 4 tablet, which I find to be more comfortable. I also use the tablet’s pen when doing any photo editing.
The iPad is really for reading books, but I often use it when traveling to write articles, to watch webinars or with AIrDisplay when I need that extra monitor real estate.
I have a cheap Amazon mic stand with a boom that has a Blue Yeti attached to it. When needed, I swing the mic around so it is front of the LG monitor.
Directly in front my office window is where I keep the Macbook Pro when not in the laptop bag (on the floor). Sometimes I’ll use both machines at once when that much multi-tasking is necessary.
Behind my desk is are bunch of shelves that sometimes gets very messy. (usually after taking photos) On the top shelves I keep some books, gadgets, chargers and lenses not in use. The last shelf keeps my Canon printer off the floor.
That’s pretty much my office in a nutshell. I’m still in the process of organizing and decorating my office, so the other side of the room is cluttered with more things to find homes for.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my space, thanks for reading and checking it out!
