One of the first blogs that I ever subscribed to that had consistent content aimed squarely at the WordPress user and developer was Weblogtoolscollection – it had not only great content but a growing and active community of sharing and collaboration.
It has since become a staple within the WordPress community and one of the largest sources of news, historically. For those that have been around for awhile you know that it has slowed down a pitch and is no longer the dominant news source for all things WordPress – although still very valuable with hundreds of articles that have historical significance, it’s pace has changed, for the better or for the worse, I’m not one to say but the flavor has definitely been felt.
That’s why I’m not entirely surprised that Mark Ghosh, the founder, is taking his leave. Besides health issues and growing demands of a family, it’s time to move on to even bigger and better things. He leaves it in very capable hands too:
But I have found very little time to come back and spend with my old friends, Weblog Tools Collection and WordPress. I do not want this blog’s content and conversations to be lost or forgotten because of my neglect. I am hoping this move will help it live on as an archive, or find new lifeblood in another form. I know that it is in the right hands.
Very much like WP Tavern it’ll stand as a living archive of content that is still very much of value as well as a source of news for new plugins and themes (community still contributes heavily there).
Good luck and godspeed Mark! Thank you so much for being an inspiration to us here at WP Daily as well as 8BIT and I know that WordPress will always be a large part of your story!
Head over to the announcement post and send Mark some love – oh, and by the way, this isn’t an April Fool’s joke.
