Every so often I come across an implementation that makes me smile a bit. It’s usually because of some clever use of styling, a little code wizardry, or even a very unique UX implementation that catches me off guard.
This morning I was greeted with a customization of the Twenty Eleven theme that gave me that same emotion – I love seeing the base “default” and yearly themes being customized beyond their initial intent to showcase not only how versatile they are but also how well designed and developed they are out of the box.
This morning I’d like to showcase The People Stories.
The People Stories is a showcase of true creativity and the spaces and environments that make it happen:
The People Stories is an online photojournal offering an insider’s view of creative individuals’ homes and workspaces. The project exists as a career platform challenging thoughts in new creative industries and advice on how to actualise ambitions inspired by innovative people.
Led by the founder Roz Ware with the help of her brother Harry, The People Stories celebrates creativity and the process of how the individuals made their accomplishments, through the various ways of realising a dream.
With the use of photography, journeys are visualised as we take an educational tour through the homes of creative professionals.
It’s like our Creative Spaces that we’re creating here but, admittedly, a much more in-depth and photographic experience (which means we need to up our game people!).
They’re use of the base theme Twenty Eleven is nothing short of impressive as the implementation is clean, polished, and highly engaging – I really enjoyed walking through their site, reading their stories, and learning more about what others create so that they can create better.
They aren’t blowing away design aesthetics or even development boundaries but putting it all together in a simple and elegant execution makes it a definite spot today or this weekend as you seek to find inspiration in your own work.
The project has been designed to provide visual inspiration on careers in the creative industries, illustrating the narrative behind a career path. We illuminate the personal story behind our achievements, offering an insider’s view of creative workspaces that delve into the everyday locations where we nurture our innovative ideas.
Our focus is to make careers inspiration personal, bringing influential figures a step closer to their admirers through an array of interviews with successful entrepreneurs and awe inspiring self-starters. Our work means we can share ideas that our readers can relate to, bridging a gap between a beginner and them achieving their dreams.
They are even starting a new concept where they are going to highlight bloggers and online publishers (which is how I first encountered them) – I can’t wait to read them!
