Hey, that rhymes!
BuddyPress has hit their RC1 Candidate and is going to be incredibly exciting for the thousands upon thousands of users who use BuddyPress for their sites:
BuddyPress 1.7 is going to be one of our most exciting releases to date. It comes packaged with the same theme compatibility that was introduced in bbPress 2.0, which means that BuddyPress will now work out-of-the-box with a majority of the WordPress themes available today.
This is going to be a really big deal.
In terms of bbPress, what I’m excited are the forum migration tools that are being released:
bbPress 2.3 introduces forum-specific search functionality, so that your users are able to search your forum posts without interfering with your blog posts. It simplifies the fancy topic and reply editors, enabling only the functionality your users should see. Lastly, we’ve included more forum migration tools to help you transition to bbPress from Vanilla, Mingle, and SimplePress.
I have helped a number of clients move to Vanilla for more than a few reasons in the past but with bbPress maturing as a better system I would gladly re-introduce bbPress as a go-to solution.
Finally, version 3.5 for the iOS was dropped in the past few days showcasing draft previews, auto-saves, and a number of bug fixes. There have already been a number of issues that have cropped up and they are actively working on reviewing the issues and providing support.
Whew, this is a release weekend!
