One of the neat things about being a part of the WordPress community – in whatever capacity – is getting connected to other designers, developers, and bloggers in the space.

Recently, Tareq Hasan contacted us about a plugin that he’s recently completed – WP User Frontend Pro.

In short, the plugin aims to make it easy to build unlimited forms to integrate into your WordPress blog. Additionally, the forms allow you to create as many variations you want.

A Look at WP User Frontend Pro

I gave WP User Frontend Pro a whirl taking screenshots a long the way.

Take a look at the plugin in action:

Add Form Screen — The initial ‘Add Form’ screen

Register Forms — The initial list of registration forms after they’ve been created.

Settings — The general options for configuring the plugin.

Creating a Form — Creating a form using the title field and the available fields on the right sidebar.

Form Editor — The form editor for filling out a post body including rich tooltips.

Completed Forms — The list of forms after one has been completed.

Creating a Post — How to embed a Frontend Pro form into the post using the meta box on the right.

Frontend of the Post — The form visible on the post in the frontend.

Submiting the Post — A view of the post after the submission

Generally speaking, I see WP User Frontend Pro as a competitor to Gravity Forms, though it takes a different approach to creating forms and managing them on the backend.

Overall, I was please with the plugin and am eager to see it continue to grow under Tareq’s development efforts.

Features

WP User Frontend Pro:

Support custom post types
Allows you to introduce your own custom taxonomies
Allow guest posting support
Supports inserting images in the post content
Manage post status after the form is submitted
Notifications for creating new and edit post

Licensing

The plugin comes in three flavors:

Personal at $49 which allows you to use it on one site
Developer at $159 which allows you to use it on unlimited sites
Business at $89 allows you to use the plugin on five sites

I would like to use WP User FrontEnd Pro in one of my personal project, where I allow users/members to create/edit/update their site via Front End instead of WP Admin

Thanks for the review. Looks like it has some great features. Would love to know what steps have been taken to make the plugin more accessible for people with disabilities. Any information you can share?

  @Deborah, I am sorry to say that no such steps has been taken. I’ve no experience to make any app accessible for peoples with disability. Perhaps you could play with the plugin in the demo server and let me know at tareq at wedevs dot com.

Thanks for the reply. Many of the steps developers/designers take when creating semantic markup improves accessibility.

Tareq, not sure you’ve seen it already, but there’s a site dedicated to Making WordPress Accessible: http://make.wordpress.org/accessibility/ One of the most active members on the site is Joe Dolson, who created the WP Accessibility plugin. He just finished updating the WordPress Theme Auditing guidelines: http://codex.wordpress.org/Theme_Review#Accessibility which provides many best practices for themes, which I believe many will translate to plugins.

Looks like a great plugin. I think Gravity Forms already has some of this functionality, but perhaps this focuses a little better on editing posts, pages, and their meta. Perhaps I’ll give it a try and blog about it myself too.

I recently had a bit of trouble implementing a repeatable image upload field to a custom post type in Gravity Forms and it looks as if this plugin could provide a clean solution for it. Would be keen to try it out.

On that note, it looks as if the default password for the demo is not working

After trying the free version i went over to formidable pro for more opportunities. A nice plugin but hindsight user front end fits much more to my needs, especially now that a lot of new features have been added. And ofcourse it saves me a lot of coding!

I tried the live demo provided by Tareq and consider WPUF Pro to be an alternative to Gravity Forms plugin. Apart from building forms, many other options like editing posts, pages etc from the front end are also available in this plugin. Hope some cool add-ons will be launched very soon. I would definitely use WP User Frontend to create “systems” per say for different client needs and business use. From creating areas in which potential employee’s can fill out forms, to community/membership based sites with a highly stylized frontend for user based blogging, and overall etc creative ways to solve problems powered by wordpress and its extensive plugins.

Forgot a great idea … Something similar to TheVerge.com in which it’s user submitted content is posted via it forums which are setup like blog posts, if liked/supported enough, user posts can be pushed to the publications front page features. The user content looks as if it were a feature article written by The Verge staff by that point which makes for great user submitted pieces and great involvement from users,

I have tried the free one first and I am thinking about getting the PRO version for just one reason – It seems that a few things are broken in the FREE version.

First I do not get an email when new posts are made through the front end post forms, second once a post has been made, the user can not delete it from the front end, it seems that they have to go behind the scenes to the management console. I would get the Pro version but now I fear that these problems may exist with the paid version? Or have a missed something here?

  Not sure why you are not getting email with free,but we never get any such report from pro users.
  
  also – in pro users can edit/delete/make post as draft from frontend
