This is a brilliant idea by the WordPress team and I think it’s a smart way to solicit and receive support – it’s kind of like those “Adopt a Highway” signs that you see posted up on the road but much better, right?
(And to be honest I have, like you perhaps, thought about adopting a highway at least once in my life.)
The Codex is a completely free place to get information about the stuff that you need to make your WordPress life even better – they are managed through volunteers and receive contribution from even more volunteers who are giving of themselves for the greater good.
If you’ve got time and would love to help manage a particular codex than Siobhan is looking for your help through their Adopt a Codex plan:
One of the interesting things that Siobhan has done is include the pageview and uniques count for each section – even more incentivizing people to see how much traffic each page gets and how much influence and value is being generated daily for people all around the world.
If you’re convinced and have a few extra moments during your regularly scheduled day to help out then reach out to her and drop your name in the hat – the places are filling up so this might be just the right invitation to consider.
