It’s been “discussed” whether or not post formats were going to be included (should) in the upcoming release of 3.6 and with the Beta 2 released yesterday it appears that the question has been answered as they are included in the beta, although it did cause a little disruption on the release:
The longer-than-usual delay between beta 1 and beta 2 was due to poor user testing results with the Post Formats UI.
Beta 2 contains a modified approach for format choosing and switching, which has done well in user testing. We’ve also made the Post Formats UI hide-able via Screen Options, and set a reasonable default based on what your theme supports.
As usual, they don’t recommend that you run Beta 2 on any production environment but you should feel free to test the living snot out of it as you have time (and provide some valuable feedback).
It’s getting closer my friends – are you getting amped? The new Twenty Thirteen has already hit WP.com and already tons of users are now using it for their primary look and feel.
I can’t wait to get see this drop and then move on to even bigger and better things – maybe even looking into some of the stuff that the Ghost Project is tackling.
