With the recent announcement of Ghost becoming much less ghost-like we’ve been inundated with more and more CMS apps to check out.
The honest truth is that Ghost is going to be one of 10’s of thousands of CMS / publishing systems out there, each unique in their own way and each having a different community behind them.
One size does not fit all, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t try to pin that clause via some marketing, like what this new player is attempting to do:

Barley CMS is still new and is only letting a handful of companies in through their doors and that’s fine because most small companies may not want to pony up the $18/month as an entry fee, at least at this time.
But the overall concept is clear (although front-facing editing is distinctly not new). Although their system isn’t open source their themes are – you can view them here.
I like the angle though and video is definitely compelling – my interest is really just staying current with different and unique implementations so that we, as a community can continue to push the WordPress envelop of innovation forward, every single time we have a major release.
Initial thoughts of Barley? Is it something you’d recommend to your customers, clients, or friends?
