I love backup solutions for WordPress. I love them because they are vitally important to our survival as a company who runs on WordPress – if you don’t have a solution already then you need to look at some of the staples among us already, like BackupBuddy and VaultPress, which recently opened a new tier offering for smaller blogs.
But it seems that every week we’re getting more and more services and “apps” that are entering into the WordPress-centric backup marketplace. Although I don’t mind the entry of new players because competition is naturally good for everyone, I do wish that there was a bit more creativity perhaps or even innovation in the service offerings.
One such example that has a few neat additional options, in comparison to VaultPress for example, is iControlWP, which, aside from the overly-used “i”+businessname, has some unique features like unlimited lifetime backups and the ability to manage all (also unlimited) of your WordPress installs from one control panel.
I like the idea that is presented here and at least it’s a step in a the direction toward something different. Perhaps I’m just arguing for something that’s not really possible as how sexy and “innovative” can WP backup solutions get?
I’m not in that industry directly so I’m just an average consumer that enjoys the simplicity and peace of mind that comes with a decent solution. Any thoughts from you guys?
