Pexeto, a developer/designer duo that builds premium WordPress themes, passed $1,000,000 in sales and earned Power Elite status with Envato.
How did they do it? Wouldn’t we all like to know!
Pexeto has over 30,000 sales and 1,524 followers on ThemeForest, propelling them forward to this huge milestone. All of this with only two people, one designer/front-end developer and one front-end and back-end developer.
The two met in college and decided to start this venture after working together at a different company. In the beginning, they admit they had some designs rejected by ThemeForest, as anyone might expect, however now testing is much more rigorous before final submission.
As far as time spent on design and development, the Pexeto duo says they spend a few months when creating a new theme. Then for a few weeks before releasing the theme into the wild, they may work 15–17 hour days to get everything ready to go, and perform final testing.
After that hard push, it’s back to normal 8–10 hour days until a new theme is ready to be released to the masses.
Want to strive for Power Elite status as well? Be ready to invest time in creating something unique, they say. There are a ton of great WordPress themes out there, so creating someting people will want to buy requires a lot of thought and investigation into what is needed and what people want.
This story should be an encouragement to anyone who wants to get into theme design and development. Test your ideas and get feedback from users and then get selling! If your products are good enough, you will definitely be rewarded with users purchasing them and allowing you to create even more.
