ZURB, the very famous design firm (although they claim that they are much, much more than just a design firm) announced late last week that they are getting into the marketplace world by introducing templates that you can purchase.
My mistake, this is not associated with ZURB, the well-respected design agency. I got my lines crossed!
Of course, how could any new online marketplace be any good without a WordPress category? Of course not! Here’s their note to the world announcing their launch:
We would like to inform you of the launch of our platform for premium themes and templates for Zurb Foundation
Because we noticed that there are not many sites dedicated to the distribution and sales of the Zurb Foundation Framework unlike for Twitter BootStrap.
Therefore we have decided to do something similar for Zurb Foundation and have created Abzurb in order to help build an ecosystem of themedevelopers and to promote the framework.
We decide to get in touch with you because during our research for Zurb Foundation developers we discovered you either have build themes based on Zurb Foundation or are affiliated with it in some other way.
And we realize that without the support of the community of Zurb Foundation developers we will not be able to make this work. So we call upon your help to spread the message and to distribute your work via our platform.
We intent to promote both commericial and free themes and are open to suggestions to improve our site.
It’s not our intention to spam you so unless you respond to this one-time email and signup on our site, you will not be contacted by us afterwards.
I’ll admit that I checked it last week and it looked ok but now the site seems to be somewhat broken. I’m sure it’ll come back together shortly.
Check it out: AbZURB.com. I have no idea why they called it “Ab Zurb” and I hate the logo.
Any gut-reaction thoughts to AbZurb entering the WordPress marketplace space? Does it make sense to have Foundation-specific WordPress themes sold and purchased there?
