Siobhan McKeown has been busy. Like, really busy. With her just-minted appointment at Audrey Capital, Matt Mullenweg‘s investment firm, she’s hit the ground running working on what seems a crazy-amount of things.
This is including the pending WordPress Book that’s going to be featuring much of the history and backstory of how a little application took over the internet.
As she’s shared recently, Chapter 3 is already out, or at least a pass of it, so that you can take a gander at the work so far:
It’s 36 pages in length but won’t kill all of your day if you spend a few moments reading it. It’s classy and has neat cover to boot.
She had originally planned to release chapters 1-3 but with the time constraints and work required it didn’t happen, as she shares:
I had originally planned to release the first three chapters and the introduction for the anniversary. This would cover biographical info about Matt and Mike, the b2 story, and everything from the first year of WordPress. I also want to include an introduction which highlights why WordPress matters – after all, it’s just a piece of software, right? So the intro should serve as a hook and tell people why it’s not only a piece of software.
With all the work required she wasn’t able to get the first two done quiet yet, but it’s coming and so sharing Chapter 3 was just fine and dandy.
I’m looking forward to seeing the full thing complete and it would be neat to see a hardcover option for sale via the site as I could have a physical copy on my desk at some point (I do love my physical books – not a fan of mobile reading at all.).
As one commenter already shared:
This is one of the coolest projects I’ve seen come out of the WordPress community in ages…perhaps ever. All the best on the continued adventures of writing the rest!
I second that, wholeheartedly. Great work so far.
