One of the best ways to “break in” to the WordPress industry as a whole (which is still very young, mind you) is to go niche, which is targeting a certain and specific market and userbase/customer base that you can capitalize on especially well given your background and/or experience.
An area that’s been fast growing with WordPress adoption is the religious and non-profit space as they are always trying to find solutions that are “less expensive” (sometimes “cheap”) that can do the job since money is tight in many non-profits.
I stumbled upon this in my searching for a friend the other day and it’s another niche-based hosting and service solution for churches.
Churchuna appears to be using WordPress as a core adding unique features (perhaps via plugins and custom development) that serves churches specifically, like event management which is an often-requested feature for churches who have weekly events. 4 key areas are shared:
- Feature rich – all the power of WordPress with all the tools you’ll need for a great site or blog.
- Customisable – with a variety different designs to choose from.
- Church-friendly – with features and themes hand picked for church use.
- Managed – we keep everything up-to-date and backed up.
Right now it’s free but via invite-only so you won’t be able to just jump in and check it out at first.
