How did the host get into WordPress?
Brian has been working with WordPress since 2007 (version 2.3) and has done a lot of fun and interesting things with it since then. In 2010, he shared his starter theme framework, StartBox, with the world. In 2012, he joined the ranks of WebDevStudios, where he had the privilege of working on many cool projects. In 2013, he launched WPSessions.com, a site focused on WordPress training from expert presenters.

Pressing Topics of the Week

• There is a new radio station that is WordPress specific. This is a 24 hour stream of WordPress content. There seems to be an explosion in WordPress podcast, why is this and do we really need another podcast? Perhaps because it’s easier to start a podcast, but more difficult to sustain a podcast. There is also now a WordPress podcast dedicated to developers.
• The closing of WP Daily was a shock. The subsequent announcement that 8BIT will close is another big surprise.
• The standards and governance model for WordCamps doesn’t work for every community. Andrea Middleton’s post on organizing a non-WordCamps.
• WPArmChair network, created by David Bisset, aggregates all information on Instagram, Flickr, Twitter and more around events. The page autoflips you to whatever WordCamp is happening that weekend. It makes the information into WordPress posts.
