This year, WordCamp Tampa is teaming up with Happy Joe to present WP BootCamp, a workshop to help teach WordPress to U.S. veterans. This day-long seminar kicks off on the first day of WordCamp Tampa, which runs from September 25-27th at the USF’s Marshall Student Center in Tampa, FL. If you know of any vets that might be interested, please help spread the word.
“Our objective for launching WP BootCamps is to educate thousands of our military veterans with the incredible opportunities available to them in WordPress and the web tech industry,” James Dalman told Torque in an interview.
Dalman, a U.S. Army Veteran himself, is the founder of Happy Joe, a non-profit that teaches military veterans how to create sustainable careers through WordPress.
“We are combating the high veteran unemployment and suicide rates by offering solutions that give veterans a new purpose and mission after their military commitment is over.
They already have valuable training and leadership skills that make them an asset in any business. If they can add WordPress and web tech skills to their arsenal, they have unlimited potential in front of them,” Dalman said.
WordCamp Tampa is offering free WordCamp tickets to the first thirty veterans that sign up, graciously sponsored by WP Engine. Additional tickets are available to both vets and non-vets for $15.
It’s inspiring to see workshops like this in our community and we hope to see more in the future!
