Syed Balkhi, founder of WPBeginner has acquired Google Analytics for WordPress and rebranded it as MonsterInsights.
With more than 10 million downloads, Google Analytics for WordPress is the most popular analytics plugin in the directory. It comes from team Yoast, maker of the ever-popular WordPress SEO by Yoast.
Balkhi’s vision for MonsterInsights is to help users parse through data in Google Analytics to deliver them stats that actually matter to their businesses. So regardless of the type of website you have, MonsterInsights aims to provide actionable insights that you can use to grow your traffic and conversions.
Aside from the rebrand, it’s business as usual for now. Users can continue to use the plugin as if nothing has changed. Over the next eight months, however, Balkhi plans to add new features and improvements to MonsterInsights, with a focus on ecommerce and publishers, he told Torque in an interview.
Balkhi plans to leverage the reports he has developed in other business endeavors to help business owners. He also plans to revamp the stats dashboard to highlight trending topics and popular posts. These new features will show you the most actionable and relevant stats to your business.
The more immediate goal is to rewrite portions of the legacy code to bring it up to date with current standards and to prepare for new additions. Balkhi is also fixing some bugs and making a few enhancements that users have been requesting.
Balkhi said he will draw out a more detailed roadmap in May with deadlines for each feature release.
MonsterInsights aligns with Balkhi’s goal to help small businesses and fits naturally with other products he’s created, like WPForms and OptinMonster.
