I’m not sure about you but I’m one that totally ignores the morning news and forecast and just assumes that I’ll do ok with whatever shows up via the skies that day.
If you’re not like me then you’re probably a far more intelligent person and one that actually does check the weather so that you can be more prepared to stay dry! Shame on me for trying to outsmart the weather gods.
So when I encountered the OpenWeatherMap service which not only provides free weather data and forecasting but also a killer API I began to imagine bringing this to WordPress in an even bigger way.
Sure, you can already browser the “weather” tag via the plugin repo but this API looks pretty darn robust. Perhaps there is even a full-scale business opportunity around weather – I mean, just think about it for a moment, this is a service that millions upon millions of people would use, daily. Every single day.
Let that ruminate around your brain for a bit and perhaps you can create a sweet open source solution on top of this great open source solution. Win? You betcha.
