Host
Nick used to shoot pro photography, then the market started shrinking. This prompted him to start looking into the building of flash websites. He then started to use WordPress after flash started to taper off. On and off he has been developing in the space for about 3 years now.
Aesop Stories started off as theme. He decided to pull functionality out of the theme to make a plugin for all themes. Core of project is open source, from day one he wanted it to be free so that everyone could share their stories in a visually striking way. It is available now at Aesop Stories!

Pressing Topics
Jetpack 2.9 was just released and there are a lot of new features. Some of the most notable features include: multi site connection with a single login and a new and improved related content functionality that works much more smoothly than some of the related content plugins on the market.
WordPress.org is about to get a revamp. Updates will span plugins, themes, trac, and WordCamps. There is also talk of updating the WP profiles to include easier trac ticket reference and conversation you’re involved in.
Adopt-Me – Instead of completely dumping a plugin you can hand it off to another user. What if you’re done with a plugin, but thousands of people are using your plugin?
Hate and Vitriol of WordPress Tom McFarlin points out some of the negative things people say about WordPress, e.g. its code is messy, it’s not secure, php is a worthless coding language, etc. Many of those arguments can be addressed by considering whether the user is working with or on WordPress.
WordPress Adds Partners to Lower the Barrier to eCommerce WordPress has added Ecwid and Shopify to their list of eCommerce options. Also, any user with a Business upgrade can use these, effectively “lowering the barrier” for accessibility.
