Jane Wells spent a few moments reflecting on WordPress.org and all that has happened around the budding community over the last 365 days in the now quickly-being-forgotten 2012 – my, does time fly when you’re having so much fun!
A few things that Jane mentions are the fact that we saw two major releases (3.4 and 3.5) as well as updates to all of the native mobile platforms as well, like iOS,Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone, Nokia, and WebOS.
The plugin directory was updated, the “Make” network with team reps have continued to be refined, the WordPress Community Summit came and went and a focus on even more WordCamps attended and the use of Meetup.com were all apart of the historical 2012.
Overall it was an incredible year seeing some incredible growth that doesn’t appear to be slowing down in the slightest.
What I appreciate the most about these types of updates though is the global overview of all that is happening with the understanding that there is even more that we rarely ever see that’s going on in our WordPress universe.
Every single day there are new blogs being created, new ventures and businesses launching, and more careers being dramatically impacted by people who’s lives are being touched by WordPress. I’d love to be able to cover all of it but I know that it’s simply not possible (but if you’ve got a good story, please let us know!).
WordPress is so much bigger than ourselves and we have to remind ourselves to always be looking outwardly toward others instead of just the few things that we’re doing in our own small little worlds.
Here’s to another amazing year in 2013 and we are so glad you’re a part of it – I know that us here at WP Daily have nothing but gratitude to the global community that’s changed our lives for the better.
