In a short announcement it seems that Automattic has acquired Poster App, an iPhone / iPad publishing system that was built by Tom Witkin: I’m elated to share that I, along with Poster, will be joining Automattic. I’ll be working with the mobile team where I’ll be both designing and coding. So what’s changing? Poster will no longer be available for purchase, but if you’ve already bought the app you’ll always be able to re-download it. I’m continuing to support it, and I’m always just an email away if you’ve got any questions. We’ve covered it before and I’ve used it myself – […]
Minneapolis in the WP Daily House!
We shared a little while back how neat it was that a WordCamp created a little flow chart poster for their event and they organizing team sent us a copy for our wall here at the WP Daily office! We’re stoked and now I have to get it framed somehow. Thanks guys!
WordPress Theme Template Hierarchy Poster
At first I thought this was a “decision tree” type poster but then I realized it was more of visualization of the WordPress templating conventions and hierarchy! Good stuff! Thanks Nick Pelton who first shared this with us via the Minneapolis WordCamp! Check it out after the jump:
My Personal Process For Capturing Content
In my last article I detailed when and where I like to blog as well as why it’s important to know when and where you are at your best. But knowing this won’t help if we don’t have anything to write about, right? So today we’re going to discuss how I go about capturing my ideas for blog posts. My workflow may not be perfect for you but it might get you to try something new or it might help get you out of that rut. And should you choose to share your workflow with us via the comments you […]
Getting a Little Love from WooThemes
More than 2 years ago WooThemes created their own graphical depiction of the WordPress universe as they saw it, showcasing some of the major personalities and theme shops that were in the ecosystem at the time. Since then, a lot has changed and the graphical depiction if done today would look very different – perhaps at some point they will re-do their work but a lot of it is still very relevant today. We thought it had to be a part of our new home office for WP Daily but we couldn’t find anywhere to purchase such a fine artifact of […]
What Would Make The Perfect Mobile Blogging App?
There have been a few articles here on WP Daily reviewing some of the current mobile blogging apps available for iOS, namely Poster and WordPress. While each author presented what they liked about the apps, they also presented some of the shortcomings found therein. I myself enjoy blogging from my iPad and iPhone due in part to their portability and convenience but also in part because my notebook is an absolute clunker. So after reading these articles and gaining some experience with these two particular apps, plus iA Writer, I began to wonder: What would make the perfect mobile blogging app? You see […]
Poster App Sees Version 2 Released into the Wild
We’ve reviewed Poster App before and we were pretty stoked to see this curious and good looking implementation and now they’ve announced the release of their version 2 which provides a number of improvements and bug fixes that a number of users had issue with. There are a number of great apps out there but this one brings an elegance that has been fairly unique. Here are some of the new features that have been released in this version 2.0: Support for custom post types. Enable them for any WordPress.org blog within the settings. Poster is now localized for English, […]
Poster: An Elegant Editor for iOS
If you know me at all then you know I’m pretty obsessed with trying out new applications and anything that’ll make my publishing life easier. In fact, I’m willing to try out anything just to see if I can eek out a bit more performance and effectiveness in the limited amount of time that I’ve got. This past year has been an interesting year with WordPress native applications – there hasn’t really been a clear winner in my book and nothing that has “stuck” long enough for me to say, with dogmatism, this is the best WordPress native editor around. This […]
