The WordPress Events team via Aaron Jorbin is refining their best practices around global meetups and how organizers are getting the best participation and interaction with their venues and even the refreshments that are offered at the event.
The questions posed this week per the latter conversation are:
- Does your meetup have any sort of refreshments available
- If you do offer them, How does your meetup procure them?
- What challenges do you face with refreshments, and how do you try to overcome them?
I’m personally all for refreshments as there’s nothing quite sad as a parched crowd, especially since it’s not as much a lecture as an informal gathering of friends. I know that a few meetups I attend here in Atlanta have refreshments and even serve alcohol.
In fact, I even hosted a meetup myself once at a Wine Cellar!
So, yes. I totally support the addition of refreshments and even a little bit of wine here and there if the crowd doesn’t mind. I see a total win when there’s wine and WordPress mixed together.
What about you? Do you sip a little bit of the good stuff when you’re working with WordPress? Would you find it nice to have more of this action over in your local meetup?
