Pete Davies, the Growth Team Lead at Automattic, has recently shared an epic list of tools and applications that can help you understand not only how WordPress.com tracks and measures their growth but also how they optimize their experience for their users.
Up until just a few short years ago the tracking opportunities really weren’t there – the rise of better tools and better use has continued to platform WordPress.com as a ever-growing website and service:
I tell anybody that will listen that much of the work I do on growth and analytics for WordPress.com wasn’t really possible until the last couple of years; and that’s almost entirely due to a couple of applications that we use.
Of course, some of these have been around for much longer than that. But as a group, these applications (sometimes interoperable) help us to understand our users and their engagement, and the impact that our new features and experiments have.
He goes on to share the list of these tools which are captured below:
- Kissmetrics
- Optimizely
- Qualaroo
- Mission Control
- Google Analytics
- Microsoft Excel
- isvalid.org
- Tableizer
- Clicktale
- UserTesting.com
Thanks Pete for sharing this neat tool list and also sharing how you guys use it – I imagine this will help many site owners with their measurements and tracking techniques as well as give them other neat systems to experiment with.
You may not have a Pete Davies or “Growth” engineer on staff but that doesn’t mean that you can’t use the same great pieces of software that WordPress.com uses!
