Building a startup is hard work and it takes a seriously-large gut to stomach the ups and downs, the twists and turns, and incredible highs and the even lower lows.
The 3-man team consisting of Orman Clark , Gilbert Pellegrom and Mark Southard are doing just that with their latest startup Dunked, an online portfolio service that’s gotten a bit of press since they announced in a little while back.
Many of you will be familiar with their previous work at places like ThemeZilla and PremiumPixels – Orman was the 3rd Elite Author over at Envato which means he sold over $1,000,000 in products via their marketplace and is one of the more popular creators of WordPress Themes with over 32,000+ sales.
But what they’re trying to do with Dunked is much bigger than just another WordPress Theme:
With Dunked, we are trying to establish the easiest way to create and maintain an online portfolio regardless of your development skills. You create the work, we’ll help you showcase it. This is our starting point and our sole focus until we get it right.
This idea, in general terms, isn’t a new one as there are many sites and services that’ll allow you to showcase your online portfolio and your work for the world to see. You’ll be able to create your own site, upload images, embed audio and/or video, choose a wonderfully-crafted retina-ready and responsive template, and then have a few customizable portions to give it your own personal flavor.
Oh, and by the way, it’ll be free.
Now I’m sure there will be some premium features enabled at some point to monetize or even some select advertising in the site so that they can keep the bootstrapped startup in the financial clear, but there’s nothing to see at this point so we’re left hanging with our own creative thoughts.
But if you’ve come to trust Orman and his team with great products then this is one startup and venture that you’ll want to stay on top of. You can follow the team on Twitter @DunkedHQ and even on Facebook too.
I can’t wait to see what they come up with.
