I’m in the middle of building a small WordPress-centric iOS app and I’ve been plugging silently away at it for the last few months. Actually, it’s been brewing for almost six months now but it’s been in active development for about three.
It’s not public (yet) and I’m still not sure where it’ll land but I’m actively wire-framing, concepting, and laying the groundwork for it from a development perspective. As a result, I’m bumping up against sweet resources (both paid and free) that might be useful for some of you, even if you’re not looking to do any iOS application development anytime soon.
On a sidenote, there aren’t very many iOS WordPress apps out there so it’s still a very untapped market. Just depositing a little incentive for those among us who might be a little more entrepreneurial.
The two resources I want to call attention to are photoshop files that could greatly speed up your design and development needs for that app or even provide some inspiration for your WordPress designs and development:
The first is an insanely awesome and free iOS 6 GUI PSD available via teehan+lax. There’s really no explanation around this other than it’s freaking awesome.
The second is a not-so-free UI PSD combo that also includes an XCode project with all the elements already imported:
For the unbelievably low price of $29 you can get the assets and if you want the XCode bundle it’s $129. That’s still an unbelievable deal.
I had already begun my wires and design so I couldn’t take advantage of the paid resource but I did use the free resource above.
Hope this is helpful and although it doesn’t fall perfectly in line with WordPress-related news I know that our audience here is much more diverse an involved in other industries, design, and development than just WordPress exclusively.
I know I am. My team is as well.
