I’ve been working on an iOS application for the last 6 months, working nights, weekends, and with any spare free time that I had to create a solution that I’ve been wanting ever since I left Instagram.
A few weeks ago I realized that the project had gotten to a point where I had to make a critical decision – continue in earnest at my current pace or speed things up a bit.
I decided that the latter option was much more attractive. As a result I submitted a Kickstarter Campaign earlier this week and it was accepted yesterday! I couldn’t be more stoked.
Pressgram‘s functional concept is quite simple: Filtered photos directly from your iOS device into your WordPress-powered blog. But there’s a greater philosophical undertone that’s just as important, if not more important to me, and that’s the idea of true creative control.
With WordPress we have that – and we’ve always had that. Our ability to own the content from beginning to end – the entire creative lifecycle. We may even take it for granted sometimes.
With digital images via our mobile device, especially on the more popular services, you don’t have that complete control because of licensing, TOS, and other nonsense. I want to change that and give more power and freedom to the artist, creator, and publisher.
Will you help me? I’ve got a short 30 days to raise the money I need to make this project a reality. I would really love your help.
I’ll keep this blog post short as the Kickstarter Campaign page is very comprehensive. Thank you thank you thank you so much in advance for your support – this should be fun.
