If you follow many WordPress blogs and news sites you’ll know by now that Pressgram is in the wild—released into the iOS App store at the end of last week. Starting life as a Kickstarter project launched by John Saddington, Pressgram promised to be a couple of things. One, a direct response and alternative to Instagram’s new policies around the images that are submitted to their service. And secondly, a simple way to connect the dots for the many WordPress users who’d like a way to quickly and easily take photos on your smartphone and send them to your WordPress […]
Move Over Instagram, Here Comes Pressgram
In an over-simplified nutshell, it’s WordPress + iOS + Filtered Photos. Described simply as “the best way to filter and publish photos to your WordPress powered site,” Pressgram is now available for download, for free, on iTunes. But what exactly is Pressgram and why would we want to use it instead of…say…Instagram? For starters, Pressgram is more philosophically aligned with the core values of the WordPress community. The target users for Pressgram are publishers. Creative control lies solely in the hands of the user. Publishers own —and always will own—all of their images. There is no fine print and no big […]
8BIT Closes Its Doors
8BIT surprises once again with a seemingly sudden game changer. As of today, the company is officially closed for business. Their Support Forums will continue to be open for another 30 days, but after that, they will no longer support their products—including their core product, Standard Theme. For those looking for a partner post-Standard, 8BIT recommends Woothemes and StudioPress. The company behind Standard Theme was made up of John Saddington, Chris Ames, Jared Erickson, Tom McFarlin, Michael Novotny, Eric Dye, and Jason Bradley. 8BIT was also the organization behind WP Daily, and the closure of 8BIT comes on the heels of […]
The WordPress Weekend Roundup
Whoa. It’s been kind of an “off” week with the big July 4th happening, but that’s ok. We’ll get back on track next week, right? in any case, let’s get down to business, shall we? Oh, and by the way, this is our 30th Weekend Roundup! Wow. Just think about that…
The WordPress Weekend Roundup
I hope you are having a very chill and relaxed weekend as we walk into the 4th of July week! Many of you are probably traveling this week and I hope you travel well and safely. The WordPress Weekend Roundup
A full first week of June, can you imagine that? We’ll jump right into our weekly weekend roundup but first, make sure you check out our growing Job Board that has already gotten a lot of views and has been able to connect more than a few WordPressers with new gigs! Stoked about that as, well, that’s the point!
What Matters Most: Numbers or Influence?
It has become quite apparently lately to me which is truly a winner in this battle and all of us already know this, but I want to share with you my personal testimony as to why it is and always will be true. Influence is most definitely what matters most. There seems to be this premature obsession with gaining popularity or numbers to reach what you “think” are your goals, but with time I like to believe that all of us realize what a true and admirable goal can really be. Let me first tell you my story of victory of influence […]
The WordPress Weekend Roundup

It is an opportunity we can’t pass up! And at this point we’ve done over 20 of these at this point! Ready? Here we go!
The WordPress Weekend Roundup
It’s been a pretty crazy week here at 8BIT and WP Daily but that doesn’t mean that it hasn’t bee fun – we’re having tons of fun getting tons of stuff done, I just wish we had an extra few hours in each day to get it all sorted! This probably isn’t too far from what you guys are experiencing so I’ll just leave it at that, but I hope your resting his weekend and finding time to hang out with those that matter, like your friends, your family, and your bed. I know that I’ve already had my share […]
The WordPress Weekend Roundup
Crazy week, right? It’s been one for the record books for me personally as I’ve been attempting to finalize a Kickstarter campaign and project that has pretty much hijacked my entire life. At some point I’ll have a massive retrospective, but I’m exhausted with only a day or so to go. But naturally there’s been more news than just Kickstarter project – here are some of the things that happened this previous week that you may not have gotten to see. Oh, and by the way, make sure you’re aware of the big super bot that’s attempting to access your […]
