Doc’s WordPress News Drop is a weekly report on the most pressing WordPress news. When the news drops, I will pick it up and deliver it right to you.
Next week is WordCamp US in Philadelphia and we are getting excited for it, so we made this short list of talks you might like to see.
Love WordCamp US but hate reading? This is Doc Pop’s news drop.
WordCamp US starts this Friday in Philly and the entire Torque team is going! We can’t wait to eat some cheesesteaks wit onions and touch the liberty bell but we’re most excited for the awesome talks.
Even if you can’t make it to the City of Love, you can participate by streaming online. You have no excuse to not enjoy WCUS this year.
Not trying to brag but I went last year and am something of a WordCamp US expert. So I thought I would point out some of the sessions I’m most excited for.
If you are a WordPress user, that’s interested in becoming a developer, consider checking out these talks on Friday:
“The Back End Is Dead: A New Paradigm for Assessing Talent & Creating Great Applications.” by Courtney Wilburn. Don’t let yourself get stuck in a particular category
“The WP REST API guide for non-developers” by Petya Raykovaska.
If you already have a site up and running but want to make it more successful, don’t miss out on Joost DeValk’s talk about SEO and WordPress.
Whatever you’re into, don’t miss Matt Mullenweg’s State of the Word on Saturday. Last year he did it with blue hair, so you know… it’s going to be edgy!
For a full schedule of events and to sign up for free online streaming of the event, go to 2016.us.wordcamp.org. If you’re going to be there, come find Torque! We’ll have some cool swag. These shirts that compliment any outfit, buttons, and this awesome zine filled with all my Torque Toons from the year! We’ll even supply you crayons so you can color them in.. or your kids can.
That’s all for this week, tune in next time to get more WordPress news! Doc out.
