So, what is the WP Watercooler? From the look of it we can see a primarily video-centric blog showcasing candid conversation around small business, WordPress, and everything in between. Each week host Jason Tucker brings together people from the WordPress community to discuss WordPress and how it is changing our businesses and our lives.
WordCamp Mentor/Mentee Requirements Drafted
I’m really enjoying the updates via Heather Acton who’s keeping the entire community updated with how things are going in the Events space over at Make. Her recent update shares the fact that they’ve begun to lock down requirements for both the mentor and mentee so that firm expectations can be established for the best possible experience for everyone. For example, if you want to become a mentor for another possible WordCamp organizer, you’ll want to walk through this list first: Mentors must have organized at least 1 WordCamp before 1-3 hours per week will be dedicated to supporting your mentee Willing […]
WordPress Ups the Ante for Artists, Creatives
The timing is perfect for this new release by WordPress.com – a greater focus on portfolio-based themes for the creative and artist! The beginning of the year is always a great time to refresh that portfolio of yours so you can get 2013 off to the best start possible. You’ve got over 30 themes to choose from that’ll give your work the attention it deserves:

WordPress.com Home Now Sporting Responsive Design
WordPress.com is now sporting a svelte responsive layout as well as the WordPress.com Reader. This isn’t a comprehensive roll-out .com-wide as many of the pages are still not responsive – not a criticism as I know that would be a very large job but I hope it’s coming soon! For example, even the WordPress.com blog doesn’t have it (yet):
Live Blogging WordCamp Phoenix 2013
I’m going to be covering WordCamp Phoenix 2013 this weekend, which starts tomorrow morning! This particular WordCamp has 3 full days of awesome things planned:
February Wordcamps Continue Internationally
February is the month for love and especially more WordPress love from our international friends. There’s three Wordcamps planned for the month of February. We have a new location, a returning location, and one running for the third year! Here’s the list of the February Wordcamps: WordCamp Bologna, February 9, 2013 in Bologna, Itally WordCamp Jerusalem, February 20, 2013 in Jerusalem WordCamp Pune, February 23-24, 2013 in Pune, India
Meetup App 2.7.01 iOS Update Released
I’m a super-fan of Meetup.com – it really is the best way to organize, plan, and execute a meetup for your community. I’ve been using it for years and it’s never disappointed. Sure, I’ll admit that I’m not a super-fan of the fact that you have to pay a bit of coin to have the rights to organize but the meetups are worth it and it doesn’t break the bank. As you can see I’ve been doing it for years:
Goodbye Mug: A Day of Incredible Sadness
Yes. Tragedy has struck me today. I woke up this morning my WordPress mug was completely destroyed. After releasing a bloodcurdling scream (not really) I put myself together and asked the only person who would have any idea about what happened, my wife. She calmly said that my 2 year old decided that she’d “do the dishes” yesterday and threw my mug into the dishwasher like it was one of her toys. Ugh. How could I possibly be mad? Sure, it’s been one of my longest-standing WordPress companions (5 years!) and has been a front-row participant in my WordPress career […]
Carbon Neutral Hosting for Your WordPress Site?
Seriously? Yes, apparently so. Really Green WP is the first WordPress-centric service and managed hosting solution for those that are sensitive about their carbon footprint as it impacts the environment. What they are offering is both a consulting and web project services a well as a hosting solution for new or existing customers. As their marketing suggests they build WordPress sites that use less energy that in turn make them faster and then, if you want, they’ll put them in carbon neutral web hosting. I’ll be honest – I don’t know anything about carbon neutral initiatives and a cursory Google search […]
