Our Heads Were in the Cloud Yesterday at MarketplaceLIVE
The Torque team ducked out of our workspace for a bit yesterday to attend Telx’s MarketplaceLIVE, a cloud computing conference boasting the tagline “Enhancing Connectivity Through Insight.” With over 600 registered attendees, the event was put on by leading interconnection and data center provider Telx and held at the beautiful Nob Hill Masonic Center. Dozens of exhibitors from all corners of the cloud computing ecosystem came out to share their visions and interact with their community. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably saw last week’s copyright battle between GoldieBlox—a toy company founded to inspire girls to go into engineering and sciences—and the surviving two members of the Beastie Boys. The trouble began with a GoldieBlox promo video that parodied the 1987 Beastie Boys song “Girls”—which went on to receive over 8 million hits on YouTube.
