Gravatar stands for “globally recognized avatar” which wouldn’t be totally true if it weren’t also globally accessible everywhere if it was just in english – especially in terms of their landing and product page. Gravatars are great as they are a visual cue and reference for your online identity – it’s hard to imagine blogs without this signal now that they have been around for some time!
