Modern Tribe announced today it is acquiring GigPress, a plugin for musicians and performers. Created by Derek Hogue of Amphibian Design nine years ago, GigPress manages live performances on WordPress. “I’m still kind of astounded at how many people use it, considering it was a thing that grew out of my own needs as a developer. There’s now more than 20,000 active installs, which blows me away,” said Hogue. “For several years, I’ve just been keeping up with maintenance and bug fixes. I’m excited to pass it on to a new home where it will get the care it deserves.” […]
Help Guide our WordPress Calendar Development!
[Editor’s Note: On occasion, when asked nicely, we’ll have these short and sweet PSAs because we believe in better products and our cool community.] Hi Folks, this is Shane at Modern Tribe. I’m part of the team behind the Events Calendar, an open source plugin on the .org repository, and we would love to learn a bit more about how people use a WordPress calendar. If you have ever used the plugin yourself or installed it for a client, we’d deeply appreciate 1 minute of your time!
Upcoming Events Calendar 3.0 Release
One of the perks of working for WP Daily is that we get invited to check out new stuff all of the time. It’s really exciting and I love getting these sorts of emails. We received such an email the other day from Shane Pearlman, one of the main men over at Modern Tribe. (On a side note, I was able to meet Reid Peifer one of the other main men from Modern Tribe at WordCamp Atlanta, he’s a cool dude. You should definitely check them out.) But back to the email we received from Shane. It was a preview […]
Dear Client: Seriously, Show Me the Money
This is a co-written piece by Chris Lema and Shane Pearlman. Shane is a partner at Modern Tribe Inc. and leads indie teams in UX/UI, web, mobile & product design. In his spare time, Chris coaches startups on new product development. It took Boeing 8 months to pay up the first time I worked with them. eBay took nearly 6 months once and SAP wasn’t far behind that. When you are hustling and trying to make sure that your family is cared for, being a freelancer can be glorious, and it can be a hairball of stress. Since 2001, Chris has been stiffed once […]
Review: Balsamiq Mockups
A couple of weeks ago Code Poet shared a new Balsamiq template for the WordPress Post Editor. The guys at Modern Tribe created the template file and you can grab it yourself in this post. I decided to take it for a spin myself. I have used Balsamiq before in the past, so it was easy to get things set up. I didn’t have it installed on my current machine but luckily they have a 7 day trial so I was able to download and try it out. Once I got Balsamiq up and running, I opened up the template file […]
