I love TED Talks as they expand my mind, stir up excitement, and provide incredible insight into what’s happening in our ever-changing world. I listened to a talk this morning via Ken Robinson and his thoughts on education, which were brilliant, but his thoughts in the closing part of his argument got me thinking passionately about the WordPress culture and overall ecosystem, especially in regards to the “controlling” forces that are in play. Jetpack 2.1.2: TED Shortcodes, Infinite Scroll Filters
You’ve probably already seen the notice in your dashboard but it’s worth noting that this 2.1.2 release houses not only 34 bug fixes but also 2 improvements, including the neat TED shortcode as well as filters for the Infinite Scroll feature that some blogs are using now. These filters, as reported by the team, allow themes and plugins to provide additional assets that should be loaded before a new set of posts is appended to the DOM. I’ve done a quick test of one of the most popular TED Talks of all time and it works just fine:
