Last weekend in Boston it was hot and humid—a typical mid-July day in the Northeast. Despite the heat, roughly 300 attendees gathered together for WordCamp Boston at the Sherman Union Hall at Boston University to talk WordPress. WordCamp US Will Come To Philly In 2015 And 2016
WordCampers, get ready to run the Rocky Steps and munch on cheesesteaks! Matt Mullenweg today unveiled that WordCamp US 2015 will be in Philadelphia from December 4 to December 6. According to the announcement, WordCamp US 2016 will also take place in the City of Brotherly Love. Having it the same place two years in a row allows us to keep logistics a set variable and really focus on the rest of the event in the second year. Submissions for WordCamp US closed on July 1. WordPress 4.2.3 Critical Security Update Now Available
WordPress 4.2.3 is now available. This update addresses a cross-site scripting vulnerability and contains fixes for 20 bugs found in 4.2. Users are urged to update their sites immediately. You can download WordPress 4.2.3 directly here, or navigate to Dashboard > Updates, and click “Update Now.” The XSS vulnerability, reported by Jon Cave, allows users with the Contributor or Author user role to potentially compromise a site. Another issue was identified and addressed in this update “where it was possible for a user with Subscriber permissions to create a draft through Quick Draft. Torque At WordCamp Boston This Weekend
WordCamp Boston kicks off tomorrow at the George Sherman Union at Boston University with a special keynote presentation by Bobbie Carlton, founder of Carlton PR & Marketing, Innovation Nights, and Innovation Women. The two-day event features more than twenty-five speakers and boasts five different tracks for developers, designers, freelancers, business owners and entrepreneurs, and bloggers and users. There will also be three keynote presentations: Visibility = Opportunity by Bobbie Carlton, Smaller, Faster Websites by Mat Marquis, and a Q&A with Core Developers Scott Taylor and Konstantin Obenland.
