Yesterday Matt Jones of Storefront Themes announced via his blog that his Rocket Dashboard plugin is now available for free download! We like free, a lot, so we thought we’d take a few minutes and check out just what Rocket Dashboard has to offer. Rocket Dashboard is a plugin that offers a fresh take on the WordPress dashboard, updating some of the colors as well the icons. It’s pretty simple but it certainly gives the dashboard a fresh new skin. I thought I’d install in on my personal blog just to see how much of a difference it makes.
Does WP Need Their Own Version of Hunie?
For those of you that don’t know, Hunie, is an online community ‘where creatives collaborate through constructive peer-to-peer critiques‘. Don’t feel bad if you’ve never heard of it, I hadn’t until the other day. Hunie has no ties to WordPress directly but it was submitted to us as a potential design resource. So we thought, could WordPress benefit from something like Hunie?
InfiniteWP: An Unlimited WP Site Management Solution
Hey guys, Cam here and I’m back with another community submitted review. Today we’re taking a look at InifiteWP, an unlimited WordPress site management solution. At first glance InfiniteWP looks good. It’s a clean website, a decent intro video and some good, well placed customer testimonials. They make sure you know that the basic package is free and that downloading is simple. So far so good!
What I Learned As Intern #0
My internship with WP Daily is over in 8 days. That’s hard to believe. Someday’s I feel like I’ve worked here for over a year but most days it feels like I’ve just begun. I’m learning on a constant basis about writing, editing, WordPress, plugins, best practices, openness, community and more. It’s been challenging as a relative newcomer to this whole scene but that challenge has also been what has made this internship so sweet. I’ve been coached, called out, pushed, corrected, applauded and accepted by the WP Daily team. They don’t settle for poor work, they hold each other […]
It's Threeme Day Four!
Here we are again, three themes released in one day! And while this is already the fourth installment of threeme day here at WP Daily its still fun to see what people are creating and shipping, even if it isn’t your cup of tea. Today’s themes aren’t really up my alley at all but I know plenty of people who disagree with me about design, even some of you here, so I pass these themes on to you in hopes that they might inspire you.
Reminder: URLs are Important UI Elements
URLs – they are so vitally important and are so much a part of our lives that sometimes we do not even actively think about it anymore. I was reminded how important in a recent post entitled “URL’s Are For People, Not Computers“. With a title like that I’m fairly confident that you know what the article is about, but I thought I’d share my thoughts on that article here nonetheless. Andreas’ main point in the article is that: URLs are user facing and should be considered important UI elements He even backs this statement up with science! (PDF) I’ve […]
WPpreset, Another Way To Systemize Your Installs
I’m back with yet another review for you guys. This time we’re taking a look at WPpreset, which was submitted to us just a few days ago. We’ve covered other systematic installation options before so don’t be surprised when we start comparing WPpreset to another option that got both a positive review and feedback about a month ago, WProller. WPpreset prides itself on the time it can save you on your multiple installs and setups of WordPress. In fact their demo video shows you how to set up a WordPress install with all of your preferred plugins and such in […]
Happy 4th Birthday to Event Espresso!
Event Espresso, in honor of their 4th birthday, is having a 20% off sale on all license package and add-on purchases now through April 30th! We think it’s always a reason to celebrate the continued growth of companies; it’s hard enough with the ever-increasing options out there for applications and solutions and we know competition is stiff. So we salute not only Event Espresso but all small businesses out there! Don’t give up my friends!
MyCurator Works, But Is Curation Worthwhile?
I was tasked with reviewing the MyCurator plugin from the folks over at TargetInfo and I’ve got to say, I don’t get it. I’ve watched the four and half minute intro video three times, read through the entire site twice and all MyCurator seems like is a RSS reeder with some slick options for posting other people’s content to your own blog.
Upcoming Events Calendar 3.0 Release
One of the perks of working for WP Daily is that we get invited to check out new stuff all of the time. It’s really exciting and I love getting these sorts of emails. We received such an email the other day from Shane Pearlman, one of the main men over at Modern Tribe. (On a side note, I was able to meet Reid Peifer one of the other main men from Modern Tribe at WordCamp Atlanta, he’s a cool dude. You should definitely check them out.) But back to the email we received from Shane. It was a preview […]
