During Matt Mullenweg’s recent AMA on Reddit, he was asked by aaronjorbin: Of all the WordPress community memes, which one is your favorite? Matt (photomatt) replied: DerpPress is pretty funny, and some days I miss WP Wank. Recently I enjoyed #thingswpdailywouldpost and the response: torquemag.io/things-wpdaily-would-post. Pretty much anything Mike Adams (mdawaffe) sneaks into the code, be it easter eggs or Ghostbuster references. Mark Jaquith had some pretty hilarious ones but I can’t find them at the moment, maybe other folks could post their favorites too. 🙂 Have you seen all of these? Which on is your favorite? More importantly, any funny ideas […]

I can’t find any pictures at the moment, but my talk was essentially at a restaurant with a swimming pool courtyard — the audience was on the other side of the pool from me, and the food buffet was behind me so when the Q&A got slow […]

Torque and The WP Daily Archives
Torque is honored to be able to offer to our readers a unique resource: The WP Daily Archives. It was quite a shock to the community when WP Daily withdrew so suddenly, and many people were disappointed. It was one thing that the site itself was calling it a day, but pulling down the content entirely created quite a stir. We at Torque – in the middle of a planning our own launch – just couldn’t stand by and watch all of that influential material disappear into a vortex, never to be seen again. We realized that we quite possibly […]

When Will the Stable Release of 3.6 Happen?
We can’t say for sure…but rumor has it that August will be the month. The first release candidate was made available to the public July 13, so developers have been sending in bug reports for weeks to help fix issues. The second release candidate just became available on July 24, and surely there will be more more issues to address, but now that the major setbacks have been figured out and the Post Formats UI and structured data has been completely removed, the stable release of WordPress 3.6 can’t be that far off. We are excited to see improvements in […]
WordCamps: The Importance of Meeting IRL
How WordCamps are helping fuel WordPress’s global community. By Michelle Oznowicz | July 24, 2013 It seems as if the business world is spinning faster and faster these days. Many companies have multiple locations in different parts of the world, and it’s not uncommon for colleagues to communicate across time zones, or even continents. Thanks to advancements in technology, the amount of time it takes to convey an idea to a faraway location – and get a response – has been minimized. This is a good thing, right? In some ways, yes. We are able to do things so much […]
