The folks over at WordPress VIP are not stopping their fast pace growth and released some statistics that showcase some of that growth publicly. Those that have been aware of the VIP services have known that it’s a hosted solution for typically much larger sites and blogs. As a commercial arm of the much larger WordPress.com service, I can imagine that it’s a very profitable one at that. They are continuing to innovate and bring best-practice thinking to their customers. In June of 2012 they revealed auto-deploys for static CSS and images – in this way they can have their clients […]
ZippyKid Adds SPDY Support for SSL Customers
Not familiar with SPDY (pronounced speedy, btw) protocol, the networking protocol via Google? It’s an open protocol that is working toward standardization as an advanced latency system for such things as load time, security, and more. In layman’s terms, Google’s SPDY is a system which makes the web faster. It does not replace HTTP but modifies the way HTTP requests and responses are sent and received, and ZippyKid has added it for their existing customers with version 2.0 support. With SPDY, you don’t need to do things like add multiple hostnames for assets in your HTML, to get around the concurrent […]
A Review of WooCommerce 2.0
WooThemes just released WooCommerce 2.0, their ever popular eCommerce plugin for WordPress. They added a variety of new features in the new version ranging from improved security (approved by Sucuri) to advanced inventory management. All of these features make WordPress a more viable candidate as a platform to develop a fully-featured eCommerce site. Worpit – Another Multiple Manage Solution?
Every single week it seems that I encounter even more solutions that help bloggers and WordPress site owners manage their sites. Today’s new player is Worpit, another notification and updating system that you might find useful. This is very much a similar product like ManageWP and WPRemote. What you might find here though that’s a nice addition are the opportunities to optimize your database and backups to leverage, something that WPRemote doesn’t have for example. Take a look at these screens:
WooCommerce 2.0: It's Here!
First off, congrats to the WooCommerce team that has been working incredibly hard to release such a significant update as a 2.0! The release contains an incredibly amount of improvements and features that make it a serious contender in the growing list of eCommerce and commerce-centric payment gateway solutions. It’s hard for me to pinpoint exactly what I like the best out of the newly minted 2.0, especially because I’ve been using it with smaller projects and even client work, not to mention even using it for 8BIT as a solution, but I’m loving the idea of increased security auditing by Sucuri.
