Mojo Themes has been around for a little bit of time – over 3 years to be precise. They’ve grown quite a bit in the last year and the growth doesn’t seem to be stopping. Which is why they announced yesterday that due to growth and how they, as a company, impact the WordPress community, they are going completely GPL: We are currently working towards having our licensing change to be fully compliant in regards to WordPress products. With the change we would have all WordPress themes and plugins sold on any MOJO Marketplaces will be licensed under the GPL. This is […]
WordPress.tv is Ready for Your Video Submissions!
We mentioned previously that the possibility of uploading your own WordPress-related tips, tricks, screencasts, and WordCamp / Meetup videos would be a possibility and now it’s finally open. Now, of course, there are some guidelines that you must adhere: WordCamp Videos: The audio is clear and easy to understand, the camera was on a tripod, the video shows the speaker and slides, divide the video by presentation if possible. Screencasts: Keep it concise, keep it clear, keep on track (no chock-full of personal promotion please), keep it current. Vodcasts and other video-based content: If you have put together a video podcast or […]
Interview with Daniel Espinoza, Support Ninja @ WooThemes
We’re having a blast this week with WordCamp starting up tomorrow and our Jelly Event today (still going on)! We’ve met a bunch of folks that we had just known online only and now real tweeps are becoming peeps. Or something like that. As a result, we’re trying to sit down and catch up with as many people as possible and even having an interview or two if we can. This first one was very “off the cuff” with Daniel Espinoza, a Support Ninja @ WooThemes, blogs about development and business at http://danielespinoza.me and he and his wife are living a Life with […]
You and Hello Dolly @ WordCamp Atlanta?
We’re stoked as WordCamp Atlanta (it’s completely sold out!) is just a few days away – it’s getting hot and heavy as we’re preparing not only our talks (most of this team is scheduled to speak) but also organize the event and speaker / VIP party after. Yikes – lots to do and lots to get ready. Even my wife is working (hah…) and coordinating the afterparty – it’s been a rough couple nights if I can be completely honest. In addition, we’re expecting more of our staff that are from out of town to show up too, including our […]
WordPress, Vampires, Transylvania, Oh My!
Yes seriously, there is going to be a WordCamp in Transylvania this year. In case, you didn’t know Translyvania is in Romania and contrary to many folk tales (well romantic novels) is not the home of many vampires and a WordPress community looking to host a WordCamp. So, if you like WordPress and love Vampires, this is the WordCamp to attend! Just kidding.
WordCamp Guidelines Survey Open to All
We’ve reported previously that there has been a WordCamp Guideline survey that has been making the rounds and I spent some time even to answer it myself as I am a current WordCamp co-organizer (WordCamp Atlanta 2013). A recent update via Dee Teal (thewebprincess to you!) mentioned that they’ve got some good feedback so far and thus its in everyone’s interest to open it up to all, especially those that are interested in organizing one in the future: The Review Guidelines committee have been monitoring responses to the initial WordCamp organisers survey* and finding the results really useful. We have since felt that the next […]
Hello Dolly: Episode 4: I Don't Think You're Ready For This Jelly
It’s been a little while since our last episode – though we’re aiming for a couple of episodes per month (well, at least one per month), we’ve been heads down working on Standard and getting ready for WordCamp Atlanta. To that point, we spend a bit of time talking about WordCamp Atlanta and some of the meetups happening around the area during the weekend where we’d all love to hang with you guys. Of course, we talk about a lot more in the episode, as well.
Vinay Paudel: Optimization, Speed
[wpvideo 8twCJVmH] Every so often we share a few great WordPress presentations via a local WordCamp that many of you may find of value and something that all of us can appreciate is better performance for WordPress sites. One of the previous presentations also focused on scaling and speed.

Roshan Bhattarai: Scaling for Large Traffic
Have a growing WordPress blog or site as well as a growing monthly cost to support it? If that’s you and you’d much rather be on the side of the former rather than the latter then this presentation by Roshan might be of use. Because all of us would love for our blogs to scale while keeping the costs low, right? Roshan borrows some wisdom Ewan Leith as well to provide us a solution using: Nginx Varnish or Squid PHP-FMP Sphinx CDN Opcode Cache (APC) Take a look at the presentation including the slides after the jump. Hope that helps! Thanks […]
