This past weekend’s sold-out WordCamp Minneapolis was a blast. We had beautiful spring weather (finally), brilliant speakers, enthusiastic attendees, and amazing volunteers. And to make the very best of it we decided, as a small company, to go all out on it.
How Has WordPress Changed Your Life?
When I was down in Atlanta for WordCamp back in March, while we were gathering to eat some Yum Diggity at the VIP after party, John shared a few words with everyone that have stuck with me. He said something along these lines: Everyone in this room is here because of an open source piece of software. We’re able to share our stories, build our businesses and feed our families because of it. Think about that for a second, how awesome is that!? It is pretty remarkable, if you sit and think about that for a few minutes. An open […]
WordPress Theme Template Hierarchy Poster
At first I thought this was a “decision tree” type poster but then I realized it was more of visualization of the WordPress templating conventions and hierarchy! Good stuff! Thanks Nick Pelton who first shared this with us via the Minneapolis WordCamp! Check it out after the jump:
WordCamp Chicago 2013: Calling All Speakers!
We love supporting our fellow WordPressers, especially those that are organizing the WordCamp events. Heck, we would know as we just got through hosting and organizing the Atlanta WordCamp. Whew, I still feel like we’re recovering! But we couldn’t have done it without the incredible community, the sponsors, and most importantly, the speakers! The speakers help make the experience memorable and they do an incredible job of exporting their knowledge, experience, and know-how to others. How awesome! That’s why when Aaron Holbrook pinged us to help get some love and support for the Chicago event we said YES! Hear him share his […]
Jen Mylo – Hooking into the WP Community
We had the pleasure of having Jen Mylo visit us and speak at the WordCamp Atlanta event a few months ago and her talk is finally up for your viewing pleasure. We’d love to showcase all of the videos from the event (and you can browse them here although please note that new ones are being added every few days as we complete the uploading process) but this one’s great for everyone because she covers some of the core essentials like what the WordPress Foundation is and how it’s different than WordPress.com and other such things that are easy to get […]
The WordPress Weekend Roundup
Crazy week, right? It’s been one for the record books for me personally as I’ve been attempting to finalize a Kickstarter campaign and project that has pretty much hijacked my entire life. At some point I’ll have a massive retrospective, but I’m exhausted with only a day or so to go. But naturally there’s been more news than just Kickstarter project – here are some of the things that happened this previous week that you may not have gotten to see. Oh, and by the way, make sure you’re aware of the big super bot that’s attempting to access your […]
Building a Lifestyle Business Around WordPress
I know, I know. There are probably some people already snickering about the term “lifestyle business” and if you’re one of those haters, give me a moment to share some thoughts first. When I talk about lifestyle business, I am not referencing the “buy my program and work five hours a week from the beach with your laptop” plan. We all know that’s only a pipe dream and a ploy to sell products that never work. What I am talking about is creating a business model that works around your values, beliefs, and desires. This definition is and should be […]

WordCamp Atlanta 2013 Photobooth Pictures!
We enjoy “doing things up” a bit here at WP Daily and we love having great fun with family, friends, and pretty much anyone who loves WordPress. WordCamp Atlanta 2013 seems like it was forever ago but that’s probably because we’ve been so freaking busy since the conference ended, getting back into the grind and trying to catch up on all that time that we lost planning the event! One thing we were still waiting on was a set of photos from our VIP / Sponsor Afterparty that included a photobooth – and they finally arrived yesterday for us to […]
Getting Ready for WordCamp Miami 2013!
WordCamp Miami kicks off in only a few more days and it’s looking to be pretty awesome. This will by my first year in Miami for WordCamp (I’m a previous and future speaker at WordCamp Austin) and I can’t wait. With 33 speakers, 47 sessions, lightning talks, keynotes, and a host of other activities it promises to be an epic feast of WordPress knowledge and networking. There’s so much going on it’s hard to decide what I’m looking forward to most but here’s my pick for top 3 events so far.
