Can you imagine building an entire business around “beautiful buttons”? Sometimes when I think about that I giggle a little. It’s not in jest at all – I love the idea of how with a great idea, decent execution, and then a consistent focus on iteration and product development. In this case it’s a business of buttons. I’m reminded of a recent interview by Matt Medieros who said: I love the idea of Max Foundry’s button plugin because it solves such a simple problem. Don’t have the design chops or time to code some sweet CSS buttons? Let’s see how Dave Donaldson […]
iPhone 5 .Sketch Template via Dribbble
A freebie for your lunchtime enjoyment: an iPhone 5 .sketch template via Dribbble. With more and more websites going mobile and responsive it’s best to have some of these templates at the ready, especially when prepping for a design for a client or for your own projects! I’ve been bookmarking quite a few in the past few months – it seems that everyone has a free version to giveaway. I love the online culture of free don’t you? So much great stuff that people are so willing to share with others. Oh, why the heck not?
How Many WP Backup Solutions Are There?
I love backup solutions for WordPress. I love them because they are vitally important to our survival as a company who runs on WordPress – if you don’t have a solution already then you need to look at some of the staples among us already, like BackupBuddy and VaultPress, which recently opened a new tier offering for smaller blogs. But it seems that every week we’re getting more and more services and “apps” that are entering into the WordPress-centric backup marketplace. Although I don’t mind the entry of new players because competition is naturally good for everyone, I do wish […]
Dreamhost Slammed with Brute Force
As reported by one of our community members, Mark Root-Wiley, it seems that Dreamhost has been having a bit of trouble in the last few days with some brute force attacks that have slammed their servers and hosting: Our admin team is continuing to roll out the fix and monitoring where needed. They are confident the source of the connectivity issues are due to large-scale brute force attacks to wp-login pages. These attacks are overloading affected servers and the fix being applied will limit the rate these attacks are hitting wp-login pages. In addition to the fix that’s being applied […]
WPTavern and The Great Wizard of Oz
Is it just me or am I the only one who’s completely miffed by the strange display of secrecy (anonymity?) behind the mysterious employer that owns-and-yet-does-not-operate WPTavern? Jeffro has been incredibly coy about it all, although he’s mentioned in a recent blog post comment reply that his “boss” will soon share some more of these details: I know we have the interview questions but my boss will be the one publishing a post here on WPTavern.com at some point in the near future that will explain a bunch of things. (The “interview questions” are ones that I gave Jeffro a […]
