The other day we received an invitation to be Beta testers for a new plugin called CoSchedule by Todaymade. We’re always excited to give new technology a test drive so we hopped on the opportunity, especially if it has the potential to serious up our content development, organization, and automation. Heck, we have a hard enough time managing all the content that we’ve got going on – we’ll take a stab at anything that might level us up! But is it ready for prime time?
Move over Jetpack lite – the recent update of Jetpack 2.2.1 now has what tons of developers have been asking for: Developer Mode, where you can activate the plugin on a local environment for testing and all that fun stuff. People have been waiting a long time for this and now it’s finally here: Turn on Development Mode right now by adding define( ‘JETPACK_DEV_DEBUG’, true);to your wp-config.php file. One of our responsibilities as developers is not only to make things work, but to make things work well (read: easily) for the end-user. I was recently handed a project where the client had a page that needed to display a drop-down menu of its sub-pages. There were 5+ pages like this. TechCrunch shared some news that made me crack a big smile as I read it: In the past 30 days alone, 15 million posts have been imported into the platform [WordPress.com]. The top two services that tend to migrate to WordPress are Blogger and Tumblr, Mullenweg tells me. And then there is Posterous. Hey, that rhymes! BuddyPress has hit their RC1 Candidate and is going to be incredibly exciting for the thousands upon thousands of users who use BuddyPress for their sites: BuddyPress 1.7 is going to be one of our most exciting releases to date. It comes packaged with the same theme compatibility that was introduced in bbPress 2.0, which means that BuddyPress will now work out-of-the-box with a majority of the WordPress themes available today. This is going to be a really big deal. In terms of bbPress, what I’m excited are the forum migration tools that are being released:
